Calendar focuses on new home sales

Today's economic calendar is relatively light, with traders focused mostly on housing-related data.
The schedule begins with the weekly MBA mortgage-purchase application report at 7 a.m. ET. There are no forecasts for this release, which came in at 16.9 percent in the previous week.
New home sales for June are scheduled for 10 a.m. ET. The consensus forecast calls for a reading of 370,000, up slightly from June's 369,000. Estimates range from 358,000 to 389,000.
The weekly EIA petroleum inventories will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. The last report showed a draw of -809,000 barrels of crude oil.
A five-year note auction at 1 p.m. ET is the last item on the calendar.
