Friday's calendar is light, with durable-goods orders the only economic event on the schedule.
The release, which measures orders for items lasting more than three years, comes from the Census Bureau at 8:30 a.m. ET. The pace of growth is expected to accelerate to 1.9 percent in July from 1.6 percent in June. The range of estimates varies widely, from a contraction of 1 percent to an increase of 7 percent.
Excluding transportation, new orders are expected to grow 0.4 percent versus a -1.1 percent reading in June. Forecasts range from -0.8 percent to 1 percent.
